    2. Gallery: All Known RoadRunners Online by Year

You can find Jon's collection of links to all other known RRs online for ideas for your RR as well as our RR and camper idea Pinterest boards here:
    http://www.marriageenvy.com/great-relationships-blog/2015/10/5/our-vintage-roadrunner-camper-project

Let me know if you're a fellow RoadRunner owner and I'll add you to the "club" :-)

I save as many here for posterity... I add as many as I can find online here from various web pages, online ads, eBay, etc., as once sold the pictures are gone, or sites eventually go done or aren't maintained.

Save them here for comparison, getting accurate idea of what is typical shape and feature-wise per year.

DIGIORGIO Leisure Products Era of RR's
(the company that bought out the original L&M Manufacturing Co.'s RR's)

For a few years they kept the original styling, then it began to change more and more. While I'm not interested in the styles past the early 70s, I include the later RR here for continuity, completeness and reference.

    Original ad:
"This is in project condition. I've done a lot of work already structural steel reinforced corners, water sealant, subfloor replacement, window replacement, new tires, paint, curtains upholstery, still needs some TCL. Title in hand. No toilet through it out as it was original to the trailer. Has a shower in bathroom. Never hooked up to any water or propane since I've had it. Needs some lights wired like I said project condition."

    1979

1979, you can see the original RR logo on the front.
I've never seen one like this. This was on KSL Classifieds. It has the traditional RR logo. This was after DiGiorgio bought L&M. Besides the logo, the interior and exterior look nothing like prior RRs.

1979, you can see the original RR logo on the front.

Original ad: Vintage motorhome for sale! Excellent condition! Recent tune-up, passed emissions with flying colors! Runs amazingly! New tires! Only 84,000 original miles! No rips or tears in upholstery. Sleeps 4-6 people! A must see! Great for camping or hunting. Has AC and great heater. 3,000 OBO

    Year?
Older model camper outside in really good condition except for the door. Window was busted out of it and the door knob is gone. It was given to us for free. The family we got it from just wanted it gone.

    3. Gallery: All Known "CUSTOM" Private Label Roadrunners by Year

The private label "CUSTOM" was made by L&M Mfg Co. for Joe's Mobile Homes in Salt Lake City, UT. It's essentially a Roadrunner in every way except for the following:
    • Has different siding pattern.
    • Lacks RR tread pattern on step.
    • No RR branding, but has "CUSTOM" sticker in all caps where RR logo went at top front and top rear.
    • Rear bottom curves/bends under sharply instead of going straight down.

Obviously, the red wings are not stock, but added by some owner.

    1964

    1965

1965 CUSTOM private label RR. (see another CUSTOM above in 1964)
I got this email from Julie Sherlock: "We have what we believe to be a 65 Road Runner that was made as a custom private label for Joe's Mobile Homes in Salt Lake City.  We live in Michigan!  It has the oak interior, but unfortunately some has been removed.  We have the same original floor!  Ours needs lots of work.  Thanks for all the info on your blog.  I just now need to ascertain for sure that this is a private label L&M."
So I sent her some follow up questions and I'm waiting to hear back. This is another bit of new info in the RR saga.

These are unique and custom private labels in a few ways that set them apart from the regular RR's, but I believe were made by L&M for private label.

    • The rear underside curves in rather than slants in straight line.
    • Different siding pattern.
    • CUSTOM label vs. RR.

    1965???
Shorter than ours (Sherman's Donna), but identical interior (layout, tables, and brown upholstery and appliances/sink) of our 1965 Roadrunner.

    5. FAQ

Q: Is my camper worth fixing?
    • A: Great question. Hard to answer as "is it worth fixing?" is very subjective based on how much time and work you want to put into it and will that experience and the outcome be worth it to you?
    • That being said....
    • Structurally:
      • the main thing is are there structural concerns? From what I can tell:
      • it looks solid (no obvious exterior damage),
      • the skin on the one exterior side I can see looks in good shape.
      • Leaks? I don't see much interior damage to the paneling. That's a good sign.
      • Any signs of rot anywhere you can see inside, outside, underneath? If so, those rotted support pieces likely need to be replaced. From what I can see though it looks pretty solid.
    • Cosmetically:
      • The paneling is already partially painted, so I would continue painting it as grooved paneling generally isn't sought after or worth refinishing. Painted it can look real good.
      • Are all drawers and cabinet doors there or will you need to fabricate some?
      • The rest is just fixing up the interior and cute-ing it up as much or little as you like.
    • Of course, if you don't want to do all that work and just want something that's already mostly done and you want to just focus on cute-ing it up, than trading/selling maybe better option.
